State Police in Dubois are investigating an incident of animal cruelty that happened over the weekend in Jefferson County.
Officials said three ponies were found by their owner and appeared to be injured in their barn in Snyder Township.
According to police an unknown suspect tied a rope around one Shetland pony's neck and hung it from the ceiling of a barn. Police said the pony was unable to move.
A second pony was found sweating profusely from stress and had several cuts and bruises, police said.
According to the police report, a third pony was found with a cut across its nose.
Police said a plastic pole with hooks on it was also found on the floor of the barn. Officials said there were several plastic pieces broken off and they believe it was used on the ponies.
WJAC spoke with the veterinarian that treated the ponies. According to the doctor, the injuries on all three ponies were mild and they are expected to make a full recovery.
