Cat choked and thrown, elderly woman beaten
Easton, PA (US)

Incident Date: Tuesday, Sep 20, 2011
County: Northampton

Disposition: Alleged

Alleged: Iesha Watts

A 20-year-old woman was arrested last week for choking a cat and hitting a 70-year-old woman in the face, according to court records.

Easton police responded about 7:45 p.m. Sept. 20 to a home in the 100 block of North Eighth Street to answer a report from resident Helen Gensheimer. She claimed she just had an argument with Iesha Watts, who is listed in court paperwork as both living with Gensheimer and also in Bethlehem, records say.

Gensheimer, 70, said Watts grabbed her cat by the neck and began choking it and shaking it violently before throwing it against the wall on the other side of the room, records say.

Watts then allegedly hit Gensheimer in the face and threw her into the wall. When police arrived, Gensheimer had a black eye and bruises on her neck and arm, records say.

The court records did not indicate what Watts and Gensheimer were arguing about or how they know each other.

Watts was charged with animal cruelty, simple assault, reckless endangerment and harassment. District Judge James Narlesky arraigned Watts on Saturday and set her bail at 10 percent of $25,000. Bail had not been posted as of today.
