Defendant/Suspect: Shane McDonough

Shane McDonough, 20, of Travistock has been placed in custody for two years and banned from keeping animals for 10 years.

He had admitted assault occasioning actual bodily harm on the girl and causing cruelty to an animal.

McDonough, killed a young girl's kitten in front of her and then repeatedly hit the young girl, while the  13-week- old cat on the floor convulsing and covered in blood. He then walked out of the room, got a stool, returned into the room and then used that to strike the cat across the top of the head. That appears to have what killed the cat."

McDonough has a hisory of violence and had been in court on 14 previous occasions dating back to 1997.
