Crime Stoppers and the Houston Police Department are asking for the public's help tracking down a man accused of shooting a dog in the eye.

Charles Roland Blakes is charged with cruelty to animals and felony weapons possession.

According to police, he was walking by a home on August 15 when he saw a brown pit bull.

Witnesses said Blakes yelled at the dog, and they heard "pops" believed to be gunshots.

The owner said the dog had blood on its face and body, and vets later determined that it was shot in the left eye and left shoulder.

The dog will have to have the eye removed.

Blakes is 44 years old, stands 6 feet, 2 inches tall and weighs 340 pounds.

Anyone with information leading to his arrest could be eligible for a cash reward of up to $5,000.
