Hoarding-refusal to comply with court order
Sevierville, TN (US)

Incident Date: Thursday, Sep 1, 2011
County: Sevier

Disposition: Alleged
Case Images: 3 files available

Alleged: Florence Estelle Ford

A Sevier County woman was charged Thursday with cruelty to animals after a previous charge for 33 dogs neglected at her home.

Florence E. Ford, 70, was arrested after Sevier County Animal Control officers went to her home Thursday with a court order from General Sessions Judge Jeff Rader.

The judge issued the order because Ford refused to comply with the court's order to allow animal control officers to periodically check her animals at 533 Pioneer Ridge Way.

Ford was charged in April for dogs running at large. Officers found 33 dogs neglected at her home then.

On Thursday, animal control officers found three malnourished horses on the property and five dogs being kept in inhumane conditions.

Sevier County Agriculture Extension Agent Alan Bruhin scored the horses with a body score of 1 on a scale of 1-9.

The horses were taken to the Sevier County Humane Society Animal Shelter for treatment.

Ford was booked into jail, where she's waiting to be arraigned.

Note: Classifications and other fields should not be used to determine what specific charges the suspect is facing or was convicted of - they are for research and statistical purposes only. The case report and subsequent updates outline the specific charges. Charges referenced in the original case report may be modified throughout the course of the investigation or trial, so case updates, when available, should always be considered the most accurate reflection of charges.
