County: Augusta

Disposition: Alleged

Alleged: David Dean

Authorities charged an Elkton man Wednesday with animal cruelty following a reported domestic dispute, the sheriff's office said.

David Dean, 53, also is charged with violation of a protective order.

The Augusta County Sheriff's Office said Dean's estranged 47-year-old wife filed a report stating they were arguing July 9 on Tisbrook Drive in Stuarts Draft when he picked up her small dog and threw it against a wall.

The sheriff's office said the canine survived the alleged attack.

Dean is free on bond.
