Cat kicked to death
Winona, MN (US)

Incident Date: Monday, Aug 1, 2011
County: Winona

Charges: Misdemeanor
Disposition: Alleged

Alleged: Arlyn Alvin Groth

A Winona man has been cited for misdemeanor animal cruelty after a cat he kicked three weeks ago died.

Winona Police Sgt. Chris Nelson said that Arlyn Alvin Groth, 46, kicked the cat while "trashing" a residence on the 600 block of East Fourth Street.

Nelson said officers investigating the incident talked with Groth, who told them "burglars" were responsible and showed them the bathroom ceiling, where he said the intruders gained entry to the residence. The officers concluded that no burglars entered through the ceiling and issued the citation.

Nelson said Groth admitted to using a synthetic drug known as "plant food."
