Suspect(s) Unknown - We need your help!

As if being tossed aside like yesterday's unwanted trash isn't bad enough - one Pit bull in Detroit looks as if someone used his head for a chopping block.

Yesterday, the dog was rescued by - dogs who have been discarded by owners - roaming the streets, unaltered, reproducing and trying to stay alive.

Estimates at the number of roaming, homeless dogs in this city range from a staggering 50,000-100,000.

One group has made it their mission to help ease the suffering of these dogs - the Detroit Dog Rescue drives the city's streets - searching for the latest victim and finding ways to help.

As for Porkchop and Strawberry, they are now in good hands.

Both dogs spent last night sleeping safe and sound - in comfort for the first time in perhaps their entire life.

The dogs were kept together in an isolation room, enjoying air-conditioning, good food and an attentive staff at the VCA Animal Hospital.

There is a chip-in page to help with their vet care
Detroit Dog Rescue on Facebook to keep track of Porkchop and Strawberry's journey back from abuse, and to witness and participate in the rescue organization's efforts to help stem this hemorrhaging wave of violence and disregard for dogs in this area of our nation.
