Anniston police responded recently to an animal cruelty call from a concerned resident about a home in the 2700 block of Simpson Street.

Officers on July 17 found four goats tied up and tangled in ropes outside the house. One baby goat was found dead, Sgt. Fred Forsythe said.

It appeared the rope from another goat got around its neck, he said. Calhoun County animal control officers seized the goats and were working Monday to get a warrant for the suspect's arrest, Forsythe said.

If it is a first offense, the offender could receive a fine of up to $3,000 and up to six months in jail.
