A couple has been charged with several various crimes, including 2 counts of aggravated cruelty to animals, after a Memphis Animal Control officer found two dead dogs in their back yard.

According to an affidavit, 41-year-old Keith Webb and his wife Gracie Keith-Webb, 36, were arrested on Thursday, July 14, 2011 after animal control and police officers responded to a complaint at their home in Hickory Hill in the 4900 block of Warrington, near Outland south of Winchester.

Police found 4 dogs chained to the fence in the Webb's backyard, a 9-year-old Husky and a 3-year-old lab were dead. Another 9-year-old Husky and a 3-year-old pit bull-lab mix were still alive in fair condition.

The dogs were chained under trees that did not provide any protection from the sun and there was no shelter for them. The police saw that there was no food or water available for the dogs.

After the Webb's were arrested, they both gave statements that Keith Webb provided food and water to the dogs before he leaves for work and after he gets home every day.

The Webb's are charged with 2 counts of aggravated animal cruelty, 2 counts of animal cruelty and 4 counts of violating the vaccination and registration law.
