Alleged: Robin Kelly

A Catskill woman has pleaded not guilty to charges that she starved 12 horses kept on her property on Bogart Road.

Robin Kelly, 43, was arrested last week and charged with 12 counts of animal cruelty, a misdemeanor, for allegedly failing to provide the horses with enough food.

Five horses - all of which were extremely thin - were removed from the property and are now in foster care, according to the The seven other horses are being monitored daily by the humane society and are under the care of equine veterinarians.

"There's simply no excuse that can be offered by Ms. Kelly that will explain the horrific physical conditions of these horses," CGHS President Ron Perez said in a statement.

Kelly was issued an appearance ticket following her arrest.

Investigators were reportedly tipped off to the situation at Kelly's home, at 1385 Bogart Road, about two months ago by a motorist.

Kelly reportedly bought the horses at an auction and was interested in starting a riding facility.

If convicted on all the counts, Kelly could receive up to a year in jail and be fined $12,000.

The horses, now in foster care, are available for adoption.
