Suspect(s) Unknown - We need your help!
A dog was found near-death in front of the Connecticut Humane Society in Newington on Wednesday.
The dog, an 11-year-old male Shih-Tzu, was stuffed into a storm drain in front of the building. This dog was abandoned on the facility grounds sometime between the close of business on June 28 and the morning of June 29.
Medical personnel say the dog had been neglected for several months and was suffering from malnutrition, dehydration, and severe matting, among other things. He is currently responding positively to treatment but his prognosis for a full recovery is unknown at this point. When he was discovered, the dog was near death and may have only had 24 hours left to live.
This incident is being actively pursued by the Connecticut Humane Society with the assistance of Newington Animal Control, as a cruelty and abandonment case.
The Connecticut Humane Society would like to remind everyone to report suspected cases of cruelty, neglect and abandonment to the local authorities immediately.

Note: Classifications and other fields should not be used to determine what specific charges the suspect is facing or was convicted of - they are for research and statistical purposes only. The case report and subsequent updates outline the specific charges. Charges referenced in the original case report may be modified throughout the course of the investigation or trial, so case updates, when available, should always be considered the most accurate reflection of charges.
