A Nacogdoches County Sheriff's deputy arrested a man for animal cruelty this weekend.

Earlier this month, the Sheriff's Office got a tip that Danny Rangel, 58, was not taking care of a horse on his property located on FM 225. A deputy went to check it out on June 6th.

According to the report, the deputy found Rangel's horse with sores, and needing medical attention. The horse also seemed to be malnourished.

The deputy told Rangel he had two other city warrants for city traffic violations. He told him that he would come back.

On Saturday, Rangel was arrested on two traffic warrants, and a third warrant for cruelty to non-livestock animals.

The Sheriff's Office says the horse is now being looked after by someone else.
