Defendant/Suspect: Pamela Louise Wykle

Animal Control Officers have charged the owner of a Herndon home where authorities found dozens of dead cats with multiple counts of animal cruelty.

Authorities say that Pamela Louise Wykle, 50, of Herndon, with six counts of animal cruelty, two counts of failure to properly dispose of dead animals and two counts of maintaining unsanitary conditions.

Officers say that Wykle left her home containing 27 live cats at 1318 Summerfield Drive around the holidays and didn't return.

On April 5, Animal Control entered Wykle's home after seeing a dead cat in a window and detecting a foul odor.

Zoning officials declared the home uninhabitable shortly thereafter. Wykle had been staying with family in McLean.
