Dog beaten, stabbed with samarai sword
Louisville, KY (US)

Incident Date: Thursday, May 26, 2011
County: Jefferson

Disposition: Alleged

Alleged:
» Marilyn K. Wisehart
» 17 year-old male

Police say a canine met an unfortunate end when it was stabbed to death with a samurai sword last week -- and now a Louisville woman is facing charges.

Marilyn Wisehart was taken into custody late Thursday night.

According to an arrest warrant, Wisehart lost her cat. She later found two dogs in the alley behind her home, playing with her cat, which was near death. Wisehart allegedly chased the dogs through the neighborhood, stopping several people to ask if the dogs belonged to them, and telling several witnesses that she was going to kill the dogs.

Police say Wisehart eventually caught one of the dogs by its collar. She then tied a cable around its neck and dragged it back to her house on Strader Ave., near Taylor Blvd. and I-264. When she got home, she allegedly tied the dog to a fence and began beating it with a metal object.

When the dog bit her, police say Wisehart's 17-year-old son retrieved a samurai sword from the garage and stabbed the dog to death.

"The injuries were so severe, the muscles to the dog's legs could be seen and one of the dog's legs was nearly severed," police say.

Wisehart was charged with torturing and killing a dog, as well as engaging in an unlawful transaction with a minor.

WDRB News is unable to verify charges on the 17-year-old, because the suspect is a minor.
