more information on voting

When you vote, you are voting on whether or not the punishment fit the crime, NOT on the severity of the case itself. If you feel the sentence was very weak, you would vote 1 star. If you feel the sentence was very strong, you would vote 5 stars.

Please vote honestly and realistically. These ratings will be used a a tool for many future programs, including a "People’s Choice" of best and worst sentencing, DA and judge "report cards", and more. Try to resist the temptation to vote 1 star on every case, even if you feel that 100 years in prison isn’t enough.

Cat left to suffer with cancer
Perth, WA (AU)

Incident Date: Wednesday, Dec 1, 2010

Disposition: Convicted

Defendant/Suspect: Bradley Roy Tomlinson

A Perth man who failed to seek medical treatment for his cancer-stricken cat has been fined $3000 for animal cruelty.

Bradley Roy Tomlinson, 51, was found guilty in the Perth Magistrates Court of allowing a cat to suffer harm that could have been alleviated by taking reasonable steps.

In December last year, an RSPCA inspector visited a property where a white cat named Snowy was found bleeding from a large, open wound on the side of his head where his ear should have been.

The wound was swollen and puss laden, and Snowy also had other sores on its body.

An investigation by the RSPCA found Snowy had been previously treated for cancer, but Tomlinson had not taken the cat to a veterinary clinic in the previous 12 months.

The cat was later taken to the RSPCA Veterinary Department where it had to be euthanased.

Tomlinson was on Monday fined $3000 for animal cruelty and was also ordered to pay $1700 in court costs.

RSPCA spokesman Tim Mayne said the conviction showed pet neglect would not be tolerated.

"Pet owners have to be able to meet all their animals needs, and that includes making sure they receive veterinary treatment when they're sick or injured," he said.
