Two dogs survived being thrown off the I-65 bridge in Berry Hill, while two other dogs died on the scene after bleeding to death internally from their injuries.

Winn Walton came to the Animal Services Center to visit the dog that she cared for on the side of Franklin Road. She was one of the first motorists to find the injured cainine, along with the three others. Now Winn wants to take this guy home.

Metro Animal Services staff say the dog is being monitored closely for signs of internal injuries, and that he's not out of the woods yet.

Metro Animal Services director Judy Ladebauche said, "He has a broken leg, multiple gashes and cuts, and certainly a lot of deep bruising, but so far no sign of any internal bleeding."

As for the other survivor's condition, officials say that he'll be fine

Investigators say they are pursuing a hot lead that may help them figure out who tossed the four dogs off the bridge. Berry Hill Police Corporal Sam Weatherly wants the public's help in tracking down a woman seen near the I-65 bridge over Franklin Road Monday morning. She - and three others she was with - may have seen someone throwing the dogs off the bridge.

These people were parked along the grassy area right before the bridge. The car is described as a 1978-80 Lincoln, silver or gray in color, with a luggage carrier on top that is mostly white. The car has front-end damage. The vehicle had three people inside, possibly children. The woman is described as white, 5'-5'2", with long black hair. Police believe that the car was also seen in Bellevue on Sunday.

Berry Hill Police Officer Rejena Downey said, "We've had several leads come in from several citizens here in Middle Tennessee. Some have actually come outside of Middle Tennessee, where they traveled through yesterday. We haven't been able to substantiate all the leads yet - some that we have are still under investigation.

Berry Hill police are asking for your help to solve this crime. They're still looking for motorists who may have been on I-440, exiting onto I-65 North, right before 8 am Monday. If you spotted a vehicle parked along the shoulder of I-65, or have any information that can help, call police at 615-297-4701.
