Puppy picked up by collar
Adrian, MI (US)

Incident Date: Friday, May 20, 2011
County: Lenawee

Disposition: Alleged

Alleged: David Christopher Galvan

Adrian police arrested an Adrian man Friday on assault and animal cruelty charges after responding to a report of a domestic assault.

According to a report released Friday by the Adrian Police Department, officers arrested David Christopher Galvan, 35, after being called at 1:41 a.m. to a house in the 500 block of Finch Street.

They were met at a window by the victim who said the house was locked and her alleged assailant was still inside. An officer crawled through the window and unlocked a door for other officers to enter. They found Galvan asleep on the couch and arrested him on charges of assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder, interfering with a 911 call and animal cruelty.

The alleged victim told police that Galvan had punched her in the head several times and then picked up her puppy by the collar and threatened to kill it. When the woman ran out the door, she said Galvan grabbed her by the hair and pulled her back in.

The woman was taken to Bixby Medical Center and treated for cuts and bruises. Galvan was lodged in the Lenawee County Jail.

Note: Classifications and other fields should not be used to determine what specific charges the suspect is facing or was convicted of - they are for research and statistical purposes only. The case report and subsequent updates outline the specific charges. Charges referenced in the original case report may be modified throughout the course of the investigation or trial, so case updates, when available, should always be considered the most accurate reflection of charges.
