Dog found with eyes gouged out

Vets in Greenville County are treating a dog with a shocking case of apparent cruelty.

It appears someone gouged his eyes out.

The dog, a Spitz, was named Gandolf by rescuers. He is barely two years old, and is being cared for at The North Greenville Animal Hospital.

Dr. Ann Malphrus is treating the dog, who is now blind. His eyes needed to be removed.

Dr. Malphrus says his sense of smell is so good, that even with his new limitation, he is able to cope.

The dog was discovered wandering on Grove Road in Greenville days ago--badly injured.

Noah's Arks Rescue in Okatie, SC is accepting offers for adoption.

Animal Control officers are conducting the investigation into who the previous owner may be, and who may be responsible for the abuse.
