Alleged: Nicholas W. Lodge

Nicholas Lodge, 31, 39 Hortin Hill Road, Naugatuck, was charged with cruelty to animals after police said he struck a canine and raised it off the ground by its neck during an incident on April 2.

Lodge is also alleged to have forced the canine to drag a weight around its neck. After turning himself in on warrant on April 28, Lodge was released on a $500 non-surety bond and is scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on May 11.
