Two neglected dogs seized, more animals dead
Millville, NJ (US)

Incident Date: Wednesday, Apr 20, 2011
County: Cumberland

Disposition: Alleged

Alleged: Jennifer Miletta

Authorities found a dozen dead bats in an attic of a Millville home Wednesday afternoon.

Bev Greco, executive director of the Cumberland County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, said the agency was contacted to come to a home on the 200 block of South 4th Street. The resident Jennifer Miletta was being evicted and the Sherriff's officers discovered two dogs covered in feces and a dead rabbit in the backyard.

After further investigation 12 dead bats were found in the attic.

Greco said she had no idea why the bats were in the attic or how they died. The state Division of Fish, Game and Wildlife will investigate the incident, she said.

The two female English bulldogs were taken to the SPCA office in Vineland and are being examined by a veterinarian, she said. The animals should recover from some skin and eye issues, she said.

Greco said she expects to charge Miletta for the unsanitary conditions in the home.

Greco also said the woman has a history of animal cruelty, the first case being an embedded dog collar issue, the second, a dog harness issue. Greco added that the woman was not charged in either of those incidents.
