An 18-year-old local man will be arraigned later this month on the charge of animal cruelty.

Jamie A. Stately, 18, 283 School St., Webster, has been summoned for animal cruelty after a clerk magistrate found probable cause this week. Mr. Stately will be arraigned April 19 in Dudley District Court.

Mr. Stately allegedly placed a lit cigarette to the ear of a Weimaraner dog belonging to his mother, inflicting pain and visible injury to the animal.

In addition, Mr. Stately allegedly removed metal heat grates from the floor, placed a carpet over the open space and called the dog over to the area, causing the dog to fall through the floor, according to the police report.
