Suspect(s) Unknown - We need your help!

THE Scottish SPCA have made an urgent appeal for information after a dog was found starved to death in an empty Castlemilk property.

The Staffordshire Bull Terrier named Thor, pictured, was found dead in a basket under a pile of blankets.

Housing association employees made the discovery while clearing the abandoned property on Stravanan Road.

Scottish SPCA Senior Inspector Billy Linton said: "This dog was severely emaciated.

"This is a serious case of neglect and we are keen to find the person responsible for causing this dog such horrific suffering.

"Unfortunately, our investigations have not led us to the dog's owner so we are asking the public to help us identify them.

"The dog was black with a white front paw and white on his chest."

The shocking find continues a worrying trend of animal cruelty following reports a badger sett was dug up in Barrhead. A dead badger found nearby.

A local resident alerted the authorities after witnessing three men with dogs digging up the sett.

The men then fled the area when they were disturbed.

Scottish SPCA Chief Superintendent Mike Flynn said: "A post mortem revealed that the badger had been deliberately killed and had suffered a painful death. Using dogs to fight a badger is extremely cruel as it causes severe injuries to both animals.

"This is a very serious crime and we are keen to find the people responsible.

"Unfortunately we have been unable to trace the men that were seen digging the sett.

"We are now asking for the public's help to identify them."

Anyone with information on the dog or badger incidents should call the Scottish SPCA animal helpline on 03000 999 999.
