The Bullhead City Police Department Friday made an arrest on animal cruelty charges.

Police were called to the 1500 block of Lincoln Lane in response to a report of an intoxicated male who had shot a 2-month-old puppy with a handgun.

Police say seconds before the puppy was shot, the dog's owner told the suspect, 33-year-old Andrew Wayne Perry, to put his gun away before someone got hurt. There were three other adults and two small children inside the residence. A 4-month old boy was in a crib on the other side of the wall from where the dog had been shot. The dog died from the gunshot wound.

Perry reportedly told police that it was an accidental discharge.

He was booked on charges of discharging a deadly weapon, recklessly endangering another and killing an animal. Perry was transported to the Mohave County Jail in Kingman.
