more information on voting
When you vote, you are voting on whether or not the punishment fit the crime, NOT on the severity of the case itself. If you feel the sentence was very weak, you would vote 1 star. If you feel the sentence was very strong, you would vote 5 stars.
Please vote honestly and realistically. These ratings will be used a a tool for many future programs, including a "Peoples Choice" of best and worst sentencing, DA and judge "report cards", and more. Try to resist the temptation to vote 1 star on every case, even if you feel that 100 years in prison isnt enough.

Another case of animal cruelty in Schenectady has led Assemblyman Jim Tedisco to call for action and make punishment for all animal abusers more harsh.
According to police, Michael Perillo of 2438 Albany Street was picked up Friday after the local SPCA received a hotline tip that Perillo had been abusing his dog. This comes just after
Assemblyman Tedisco is pushing legislation that would strengthen buster's law, with three new bills (A.1567, A.1506 and A.1580).
They include mandatory psychological evaluation for abusers, a state-wide registry of abusers, and keeping abusers from ever owning or taking care of a companion pet.
Assemblyman Tedisco is also sponsoring the first state-wide animal advocacy day at the Capitol on June 1, to bring people together in support of the tougher legislation.
Case Updates43-year-old Michael Perillo was sentenced to one year in prison after he pled guilty to animal cruelty. As part of his sentence, Perillo will not be allowed to own any animals for three years.
In March, SPCA investigators arrested Perillo after he allegedly taped his dog Oliver's mouth shut with duct tape and exposed the dog to repeated beatings.
"This goes to show that animal cruelty will not be tolerated in our country. This is a wake-up call to anyone out there guilty of this," said Schenectady County SPCA Department Chief Matthew Tully. "Only a coward would do this to an animal. Typically someone that does this to an animal will do this to a human."
Oliver has since been recovering with his new caretaker, http://youtu.be/o580zzW87Vo, of Oliver enjoying his life with his new friends.
"It hurts me everyday to look at him and know what he's been through. He is one of the most loyal dogs I have ever seen. He just wants to be near us every minute of the day and that's pretty remarkable considering what he's been through. That shows what type of dog he truly is," said Bellows.
