Morgan City Police Department needs your help in finding a man wanted for allegedly training fighting dogs. Police say this is his second offense.

A warrant for the arrest of Irvian Singleton, Jr. was issued on February 18, 2011. Search warrants were executed at both his residence and his place of business but he could not be located. During the search warrant at his business, officers discovered a facility that was used to train and fight pit bulls. The business is called Dirty South Auto in Morgan City.

A total of 15 dogs were seized, some needing medical attention. It appeared that some of the dogs had recently been involved in a dog fight. Several items used in the training and conditioning of these dogs for fighting were found on the premises including animal training schedules. Also located were items that could be used to medicate the animals as well as a surgical stapler used to close wounds. Officers located cocaine, marijuana, and Lortab at both locations, as well as numerous guns.

Singleton is wanted for Possession of Cocaine and Marijuana with Intent to Distribute, Possession of Lortab, 15 counts of Cruelty to Animals, Dog Fighting, Training and Possession of Dogs for Fighting, Obstruction of Justice, Firearms in the Presence of Controlled Dangerous Substances, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Dangerous and Vicious Dogs and Keeping a Disorderly Place, and Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance in a s School Zone.

Case Updates

A man wanted by authorities on dog fighting, drugs and weapons charges turned himself in to police Friday morning.

The Morgan City Police Department said it had been looking for Irvian Singleton Jr. since last Thursday after a warrant for his arrest was issued.

Detectives searched his home and business, but he could not be found. However, they reported finding a facility used to train and fight pit bulls.

Singleton faces the following charges:

15 counts of cruelty to animals

Dog fighting

Training and possession of dogs for fighting

Dangerous and vicious dogs and keeping a disorderly place

Possession of cocaine and marijuana with intent to distribute

Possession of Lortab

Obstruction of Justice

Firearms in the presence of controlled dangerous substances (CDS)

Possession of drug paraphernalia

Possession of a CDS in a school zone
