As a retired police officer and U.S. Army veteran, George Coleman has seen a lot in his day. What he saw Thursday night, though, shocked even him.
"My daughter said, 'Oh my gosh, Dad, what is that hanging there on the stump?'" Coleman says."She said, 'I think it's a dog.' "

It's a gruesome sight, too graphic to show on television -- three animals skinned and put on display along Whetstone Road in Greenup for everyone to see.
"It was too big to be one of the coyotes," Coleman says."It looks exactly like a golden retriever that's been running around here, and it's mysteriously missing right now. But the other two carcasses are here."
Rob Howard, Greenup County's game warden, was in the area Wednesday searching for reported illegal hunters and poachers. No arrests were made, but Howard did leave his business card visible on a trail warning these folks that he is watching.
"It's just coincidental that these animals appeared the day after my presence in the area and leaving that business card," Howard says.
"There's people who don't respect the law," Coleman says. "And, when they saw that message of the game warden putting his business card on the trail, I think he just made a statement by making this killing and putting it on display here at the road that he's going to do what he wants, when he wants, and kill whatever he wants, and no one is going to stop him."
There are no current suspects. Howard says, regardless of whether or not these were domestic animals, charges will be filed against the person who did this. Those charges could start at illegal taking of wildlife and -- depending on the animal -- animal cruelty could come into play.
