Elkhart Animal Control officers removed around 50 cats from an Elkhart, Ind. home on Friday.

Animal Control responded to complaints of a house in the 2800 block of Johnson Street.

Officials say the cats had free-range of the home.

Officers say the cats appear overweight, but somewhat healthy, and have been taken to the Elkhart County Humane Society where they'll be examined.

The couple who lives at the home could face charges for violating a city ordinance and possibly animal neglect charges.
