The Gallatin County Animal Shelter is asking for help after they were asked to rescue nearly two dozen dogs from a home in Sparta yesterday.
The sheriff says animal control officers responded to neighbor complaints about noise and property maintenance at a home owned by Karen Bryant on Route 42 in Sparta. There, they found 27 dogs and cats. Most were kept outside tied to trees or in rusted wire crates. The dog's water bowls had been frozen for several days and they were not properly fed.
Officials seized 17 of the dogs. A quick check by the vet shows most are malnourished by otherwise healthy and animal shelter officials say all the dogs are friendly and adoptable.
