Joey Plaisance, 21, 162 Hyland, Gheens, was arrested Tuesday for allegedly shooting a black Labrador on the side of the road near the 1,000 block of La. 654 in Gheens.

A witness told deputies Plaisance shot the dog then got into a truck driven by Justin Breaux, 21, 220 Cypress Villa, Gheens.

Deputies then located and arrested Breaux. Breaux admitted to driving the truck and said Plaisance shot and killed the dog, authorities said.

Plaisance faces an aggravated cruelty to animals charge and is being held on a $5,000 bond. Breaux faces an accessory to aggravated cruelty to animals charge and is being held on a $2,500 bond.

Plaisance was released from the Lafourche Parish jail after posting a $5,000 bond. Breaux was still being held at the parish jail in lieu of a $2,500 bond.
