Deputies have arrested two more people in the Botetourt County vandalism rash in which a cow, school buildings and cars were shot over three weeks in December.
And they discovered another offense in the spree: the shooting of a cat.
James Mullins, 19, and Catlynn D. Stewart, 18, both of Buchanan, were arrested Wednesday and charged with shooting within 1,000 feet of a school and property damage, said Botetourt sheriff's Maj. Delbert Dudding.
The shootings were reported at James River High School and on or near U.S. 11 in the Buchanan area between Dec. 7 and Dec. 30.
Mullins was released from the Botetourt-Craig County regional jail on Wednesday and was arrested again Friday on an animal cruelty charge in connection with the shooting of a cat, said investigator David Dillow. He's out on a $2,500 bond.
One of the suspects in the shooting of buildings and vehicles, Corey Linthicum, 24, is also suspected in the shooting and butchering of a cow from the Flowing Spring dairy farm near Buchanan. He is being held without bond.
Mullins, Stewart, Linthicum and Andrew Long, 19, also suspected of the cow shooting, are scheduled for a hearing 11 a.m. Feb. 9 in Botetourt County General District Court, according to online records.
