CONVICTED: Was justice served?
more information on voting
When you vote, you are voting on whether or not the punishment fit the crime, NOT on the severity of the case itself. If you feel the sentence was very weak, you would vote 1 star. If you feel the sentence was very strong, you would vote 5 stars.
Please vote honestly and realistically. These ratings will be used a a tool for many future programs, including a "Peoples Choice" of best and worst sentencing, DA and judge "report cards", and more. Try to resist the temptation to vote 1 star on every case, even if you feel that 100 years in prison isnt enough.

A disturbing act of animal cruelty that recently took place at a Calallen apartment complex involved two cats that were found dead. Both of them had been shot with a bow and arrow, and the arrows were still in them.
This happened at the Rafters Apartments on I-37, and residents there are now keeping a close watch on their pets. The accused cat killer, 20 year old Kevin James Shumake, admitted to police he shot what he called "wild cats" at the complex. However, it is something illegal to do so within the city limits.as a result he was arrested.
This all happened after a woman at the complex called police saying she saw Shumake running back to his apartment, dressed as a cowboy. She told police he had a history of shooting the strays that she feeds on a regular basis. When animal control arrived, they found the two cats, who had been shot and still had the arrows in them. Both cats are now dead.
3 News spoke with Kelli Copeland with Animal Care Services, who was outraged by the case. She said, "Too many people still don't value that animal's life too many people think its ok, to take fun and joy out of watching an animal suffer and die. That's what's occurring when you put a bullet or an arrow through an animal."
Shumake was arrested and charged with two counts of animal cruelty.
