An anonymous tip led to the seizure of dozens of animals in a Riga home.
Unhealthy-looking horses - some with ribs showing - were the last animals to be pulled off this rural home in the Town of Riga Saturday afternoon.
Humane society workers and law enforcement were called in.
A number of them are in an emaciated condition or in an ill state," said Reno DiDomenico, S.P.C.A. Investigator.
Then there were the chickens, ducks, and a goat.
And it wasn't just in the barn, three dogs and thirteen cats were found inside the home at 366 Malloch Road.
Investigators say feces and urine were found throughout the home.
And then there was the smell.
"You can't describe it but can tell you definitely needed some sort of respirator," said DiDomenico.
Investigators aren't releasing the homeowners name at this time.
"This is a woman who do to her age and condition was unable to care for these animals, we reached out and to get her some help to manage the property and for herself," said DiDomenico.
Town code enforcement has condemned the property.
They say in 2006 a similar situation happened.
Officials say she was not charged.
For now, Lollypop Farm's top concern is to care for the animals.
"Right now our concern is to get the animals settled in here, get them food and water, make sure they have clean bedding and get them seen by a veterinarian," said Joanna Dychton, Farm Manager at Lollypop Farm.
And then it will be up to a court to decide the fate of these animals.
"Our goal is to never step in but that is why we are here," said Dychton. References« NY State Animal Cruelty Map « More cases in Monroe County, NY
