Dog bleeding from head trauma
Ocean Springs, MS (US)

Incident Date: Thursday, Dec 9, 2010
County: Jackson

Charges: Misdemeanor
Disposition: Alleged

Alleged: 13-year-old-male

A 13-year-old boy who called police about a home invasion robbery Thursday ended up being the one in trouble with the law.

Ocean Springs Police were called to a home on Heritage Lane Thursday morning just after 11am. When they got there, the teenager who lived there told the officers that two men had entered the house and assaulted him and a dog at the home.

Officers said they could see that the boy was injured and the dog was bleeding from head trauma. The teen was treated and released from Ocean Springs Hospital, while the animal was taken to a veterinarian for observation.

Investigators started thinking that the crime scene appeared staged. Upon further investigation, they found that the boy's wounds were self inflicted.

The teen is now charged with cruelty to animals and making a false police report, as well as harassing communications not related to this incident. He's being held at the Jackson County Youth Detention Facility.

Note: Classifications and other fields should not be used to determine what specific charges the suspect is facing or was convicted of - they are for research and statistical purposes only. The case report and subsequent updates outline the specific charges. Charges referenced in the original case report may be modified throughout the course of the investigation or trial, so case updates, when available, should always be considered the most accurate reflection of charges.
