5 puppies thrown off second-story balcony

The local Houston police department announced that a man is being charged with animal cruelty. The man allegedly threw five puppies over his balcony, which resulted in the deaths of two of them.

According to court documents, a man and his girlfriend were on their way to a northeast Houston apartment at 5 p.m. to pick up "her half" of the puppies -- Pitbulls -- that her dog had bred with the renter's dog, reports
Although
confirms that five puppies were indeed thrown off a second-story balcony.

The dogs are now with Animal Control and are being treated for injuries.

Jones has been accused of killing two of them. The Houston resident is being charged with cruelty to non-livestock animals. Jones remains behind bars on $15,000 bond.

Jones has two previous convictions: attempted possession of a firearm in 2006 and a drug possession charge in 2009.
