Abuser names unreleased

The Houston SPCA Animal Cruelty Investigations Team, led by Chief Investigator Charles Jantzen, assisted the Austin County Sheriff's Department Wednesday in the rescue of 35 mixed breed dogs and two cats from a deteriorated breeding facility located in Bellville, Texas.

All of the animals were living in sub-standard, deplorable conditions and lacking proper food, water, shelter and medical care.

Some of the dogs were found living in a barn that had been converted into dog kennels. Old furniture, equipment and trash, along with feces and urine, covered the living quarters where the animals resided.

The other animals were found outside, caged in barbed wire kennels or free roaming on the property.

The animals were safely transported to the Houston SPCA facility, where they are in the process of receiving individual medical treatments for the range of issues the Houston SPCA medical team has identified during the animals' medical evaluations. The investigative findings, facts and evidence will be presented at the court hearing scheduled for December 6, 2010 in Austin County.
