Buttercup is a 1-year-old neighborhood cat. Last Friday, witnesses saw her head and upper body in flames. Now, Animal Care Services believes this was a case of animal cruelty.

During the emergency rescue, the experts thought about putting Buttercup to sleep, but they did everything they could and saved her life.

But, veterinarians say Buttercup will never be the same. She lost an entire paw pad and she will lose her ears. Investigators want to know how it happened.

The San Antonio Humane Society is offering a $5,000 reward for any information that leads to an arrest and conviction in the case.

Veterinarian Lori Curd and staff at Ellison Drive Animal Hospital are taking care of Buttercup. Once she's well she'll need a permanent place to call home.
