Evansville police are investigating a possible case of animal neglect and cruelty.
Officers say two dogs, and three dead puppies were found at a home on 25 West Oregon Street in filthy conditions, with no access to food or water.
An investigation is underway that could lead to charges in the case.
Police say they were greeted at the front door by a pungent smell, and when they entered the home, feces, urine, and trash covered the floor.
They also noticed several animals, three of which were deceased puppies. Those found alive were taken to Animal Care and Control.
The two dogs found alive are doing just fine, but as you can imagine, they're still a little shy.
But luckily, they're receiving a lot of tender loving care.
The pair are currently being housed at animal control, and are on strict daily schedules.
Director Monica Freeman says that typically once animals get a sense of stability they usually start to feel a little more at home.
The dogs are also receiving daily attention from volunteers. Freeman says that's the important thing.
Depending on how fast they improve, the dogs may be available for adoption as early as next week.
Police urge people if they can't take care of their pet(s) properly, to please surrender them. Police say someone in the Tri-State can, and will, take great care your pet(s) that you can no longer care for.
Evansville police have information on the owners, but no arrests have been made yet. References« Back to Search Results
