Authorities in Oakland County are looking to identify the person responsible for shooting a cat with an arrow.
The arrow traveled through the cat's body and was lodged there. When the cat was recovered by Oakland County Animal Control, it had to be euthanized.
"The cat, a one year old domesticated shorthaired male, appeared to be shot with the arrow some time ago because the wounds were badly infected," Oakland County Animal Control Administrative Supervisor Joanie Toole said in a news release.
The cat was found by a Brandon Township resident near Oakwood Road and Briar Ridge Lane. It is the second recent case of reported animal cruelty in Metro Detroit; the Michigan Humane Society is offering a reward for information about a dog doused with gasoline and set on fire in Pontiac.
"This is a case of unspeakable animal cruelty that will only be solved with the public's help," Toole said. "We are asking anyone with information to please come forward."
Anyone with information about who shot the cat with the arrow or who owned the cat should contact the Oakland County Animal Control Division at 248-391-4102. If you have information on this case, please contact: Oakland County Animal Control Division 248-391-4102
