County: Beaufort

Charges: Misdemeanor, Felony Non-CTA
Disposition: Alleged

Deputies say a man is behind bars for animal cruelty and drug charges.

The Beaufort County Sheriff's Office says they've charged Dion Mourning with Manufacturing Marijuana, Felony Possession of Marijuana, Maintaining a Dwelling to Store Controlled Substance and Animal Cruelty.

It happened on October 22nd.

Authorities say his arrest stems from the execution of a search warrant in Blounts Creek, where they found and seized seven Pit Bulls, one Fila and a one Malamute that had no shelter, no water, under weight and scarring consistent with dog fighting. Investigators also found marijuana plants and an indoor operation containing lights and timers used to grow marijuana.

Morning was placed in the Beaufort County Detention Center under a $3,000.00 secured bond.
