more information on voting
When you vote, you are voting on whether or not the punishment fit the crime, NOT on the severity of the case itself. If you feel the sentence was very weak, you would vote 1 star. If you feel the sentence was very strong, you would vote 5 stars.
Please vote honestly and realistically. These ratings will be used a a tool for many future programs, including a "Peoples Choice" of best and worst sentencing, DA and judge "report cards", and more. Try to resist the temptation to vote 1 star on every case, even if you feel that 100 years in prison isnt enough.

Dog shot, wrapped in trash bag and dumped Staunton, VA (US)Incident Date: Thursday, Aug 7, 2003 County: Staunton City
Disposition: Convicted
Defendant/Suspect: James C. Coleman
Prosecutors plan to seek a felony indictment against a man accused of shooting a dog, wrapping it in a trash bag and dumping it on the side of a country road. Prosecutor A. Lee Ervin told an Augusta County judge that he planned to present the felony animal cruelty charge against James C. Coleman, 67, of Deerfield, to the grand jury.
Coleman was originally charged with a misdemeanor. The felony charge could carry a five-year prison sentence.
The dog, named Mosby, disappeared Aug. 7 and was discovered the next day dumped along a road about five miles from its home, owner Carol Adams said.
Mosby's death has garnered attention in the national media, and animal rights activists converged on downtown Staunton before the hearing Thursday to protest Coleman's alleged actions.
"People just reach a level," said Mosby supporter Carol Turrentine. "This type of behavior can't continue." References« VA State Animal Cruelty Map « More cases in Staunton City County, VA
