A Jackson man has been arrested and charged with aggravated cruelty to animals after police said his dog died of apparent untreated grease burns.

Lance Stusse, 28, is accused of abandoning his injured mixed-breed puppy along West King Street in Jackson, where a Good Samaritan tried to save it. Animal control also seized three other dogs from his home that were slightly malnourished and had a severe case of worms.

His bond was set at $10,000 on this charge, but remains jailed for previous violations.

A Jackson man charged with aggravated cruelty to animals has entered a plea.

Lance Stusse, 28, entered a guilty plea in city court, Thursday morning to abandoning a mixed-breed puppy, along
West King Street in October. The animal suffered grease burns and later died.

Stusse was ordered to serve 30 days and will finish the rest of his 11 month, 29 day sentence on probation. He must also give up ownership of three dogs he now owns and not own any animals for six years.
