A Gallatin woman was arrested on multiple animal cruelty charges after police say she abandoned animals, according to affidavits filed in Sumner County General Sessions Court.

Gallatin police discovered three pitbulls, two females and one male, chained behind a West Jackson Street residence with no food or water. The animals were emaciated, and the females were near death when discovered, according to the affidavits.

The owner of the pitbulls, 37-year-old Kimberly Satterfield, is charged with two counts of aggravated cruelty to animals and one count of cruelty to animals.

Animal control was called and authorities took the animals into custody.

Satterfield is free on $4,000 bond pending her Nov. 15 appearance in Sumner County General Sessions Court.
