7 dogs starved, infested with heartworms

Memphis police are searching for the man responsible in an animal cruelty case, in which seven dogs had to be euthanized.

Police are searching for 39-year-old Willie Johnson for Aggravated Cruelty to Animals.

According to Memphis Police Sergeant Alyssa Macon-Moore, animal control officers were called to 1463 McLean, August 26, 2010, about several starving dogs. Macon-Moore says animal control officers observed that the dogs did not have any food or water.

Authorities say the animals were suffering from starvation, severe malnutrition, heartworms and other neglect. All seven dogs were in such poor condition that they had to be euthanized, Macon-Moore.
