A man was arrested Wednesday after he allegedly shot a dog that was being walked by a woman near his home.
A woman told sheriff's deputies she was walking her dog in the 14000 block of Del Rosa Road in California Valley at noon when she heard what she believed was a gunshot. Her dog yelped and spun around. The woman said she heard another gunshot, and her dog yelped again.
The woman said she saw a man crouching nearby and confronted him, according to a news release from the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Department. The man allegedly threatened the woman and she ran away.
Deputies arrived and found Hector Victor Sanchez, 38, and arrested him after a brief struggle.
Sanchez was arrested on suspicion of terrorist threats, cruelty to animals and resisting arrest.
The dog was treated for two pellet gun wounds at a local veterinarian's office and released to its owner.
Sanchez was released from County Jail on Thursday after posting $50,000 bail. References |
