A horrible case of animal abuse is under investigation in Calgary.
Someone beat a dog and dumped it in a field in the community of Radisson Heights in the southeast.
The dog was discovered Friday night, wrapped in a blanket barely alive with blunt force trauma to the head. It died shortly after officers arrived.
It was a black and white mixed breed, weighing about 23 kilograms, or 50 pounds.
It had no visible identification.
Authorities are treating it as a case of animal cruelty.
Bill Bruce from Calgary Animal Bylaw Services says "the animal was probably hit with something in the muzzle and in the head and for what reasons we don't know but once we track down the owner of this animal then police will determine the course of action".
Anyone in the area who may have seen something Friday night is asked to phone police or Crimestoppers. References |
