Nearly 20 animals were examined and several removed from a farm on Union Road in Trotwood on Thursday.  Of the 20 animals living on the farm, 12 of them were removed by the Animal Rescue Squad because officials say each one of them was in dire need of medical attention.

Shortly before noon several vets and Humane Society officials arrived at the farm in the 1400 block of Union Road.  Authorities were armed with a search warrant and on a mission to investigate suspected animal abuse.

The Humane Society found what they were looking for; horses and a whole lot more. Officials say the woman who owns the farm may even face charges.

Meanwhile, neighbors say the don't think the woman who lives on the farm meant any harm to the animals. Even so, officials say the animals deserve better treatment.

NewsCenter 7 spoke to one of the vets and she says the horse will need several months of recovery time, but she will be fine. Meanwhile the Humane Society of Greater Dayton is soliciting donations to help care for the animals.
