Investigators seized $20,000 in a raid on a Polk County cockfight, and say gambling activities had been documented at earlier cockfights.

A statement from the Polk County Sheriff's Department says federal charges are expected for several people involved in operating and promoting the Saturday event at a privately owned barn.

The statement says charges will be brought after a review of surveillance tapes.

County investigators, members of the Tennessee Highway Patrol and federal agents handed out more than 100 misdemeanor offense citations. Gaffs used by roosters, scales and other related paraphernalia were also seized.

Between 100 and 150 people were at the cockfight.

An email statement from the Humane Society said agents seized about 150 roosters.
