Montgomery County officials say sheriff's deputies are looking for 20 to 30 people they believe were involved in a dogfighting operation near Ramer.

County humane deputy Scott Hill says officers found a dogfighting event in progress Sunday night behind a mobile home
park after receiving a tip.

Hill says everyone present fled into the woods when deputies arrived and abandoned their vehicles. He says the vehicles were
towed, and that anyone who wants to recover them will have to talk to him first.

He says humane officers recovered 14 pit bulls, and some had wounds from recent fighting. The dogs were taken to veterinarians to be treated for their wounds and tested to assess their overall health.
