A 68-year-old Ottawa woman has been charged with cruelty against a dog that was found covered with cockroaches and flies.
The Ottawa Humane Society says it received a call from Ottawa Police after officers responded to a call about an "overwhelming smell" from a home and a concern about anyone living inside.
The Humane Society says police found the conditions of the unit to be "unacceptable" for the dog.
The OHS removed a four-year-old female shepherd mix from the apartment, which it says was covered in garbage, dog feces and urine, and overrun with cockroaches.
Louise Hupe has been charged with five counts under the Ontario SPCA Act, including failing to provide the dog with adequate standards of care.
The dog is said to be in good health References |
